How to edit and add a new MX (Mail Exchange) record?

MX record is used to avoid the situation that some people may think your email as SPAM form a nonstandard mail domain. When you first use iKode Newsletter Server, you have to edit and add a new MX record into the system, for this is not just a record, primarily because people typically use an E-mail address with the domain name ("name@company.com"), not a subdomain ("name@mail.company.com").

Take Godaddy for example, if you are now using Godaddy as your VPS server, you can follow the next steps to add and edit your MX records.


To Add an MX Record:

1, Go to the zone file editor for the domain name you want to update.

2, Click Add New Record . The Add DNS Record Window displays.

3, From the Record Type list, select MX (Mail Exchanger).

4, Complete the steps:

  • Priority-Select the priority you want to assign to the mail server.
  • Host- Enter the domain name or subdomain for the MX record. For example, type @ to map the record directly to your domain name, or enter the subdomain of your host name, such as www or ftp.
  • Points to- Enter the email server's address, such as smtp.yourcompanydomain.com.Then your host domain name is used to point to iKode Newsletter Software as the sending domains.
  • TTL- Select how long the server cache the information.

5, Click OK.

6, Click Save Zone File, and then click OK. The new MX records displays in the MX (Mail Exchanger) section.


To Edit an MX Record

1, Go to the Zone File Editor for the domain name you want to update.

2, In the MX (Mail Exchanger) section, click the MX record you want to edit.

3, Edit any of the following fields:

  • Priority-Select the priority you want to assign to the mail server.
  • Host- Enter the domain name or subdomain for the MX record. For example, type @ to map the record directly to your domain name, or enter the subdomain of your host name, such as www or ftp.
  • Points to- Enter the email server's address, such as smtp.yourcompanydomain.com.Then your host domain name is used to point to iKode Newsletter Software as the sending domains.
  • TTL- Select how long the server cache the information.

4,Click Save Zone File, and then click OK.
